"Contributions to solving the problem of waste from an ecosystemic perspective"
The production and management of household waste is one of the most critical environmental problems in urban ecosystems. Buenos Aires city has about 3 million people who generate approximately 1 kg of waste per day. Solving the problem of household waste in cities should combine changes in technology as well as in consumption habits of people. The challenge to face this environmental problem is not only given by its evident environmental dimension but also by the social and economic ones.
Researchers, staff and students work actively with schools, neighbors, and governmental and nongovernmental organizations. Since 2008 we conduct lectures, workshops, technical assistance, and we participate in TV, radio, and newspaper interviews in the context of an outreach program of the College of Agriculture.
